How measurements work

Remote diagnostics are performed by Globalping probes. IP and connection tools use separate, clearly identified data sources.

Remote network measurements

Ping, TCP Port Check, Website Speed, Traceroute and DNS Lookup are created through the Globalping API. Each request uses one available probe matching the selected region.

  • US East prefers Ashburn data-center probes.
  • US West prefers Los Angeles.
  • Europe prefers Frankfurt.
  • Asia Pacific prefers Singapore.

Best-effort probe selection

Globalping does not expose permanent probe IDs. Availability changes, so the requested region is a preference rather than a guarantee. Every result shows the actual city, network and ASN returned by Globalping.

Website speed interpretation

Website Speed is a remote synthetic measurement on standard HTTP or HTTPS ports. It measures DNS, TCP, TLS, first byte and download phases from the selected probe. It is not Core Web Vitals and does not represent the visitor’s browser performance. A redirect response describes that response only; the service does not promise a complete redirect waterfall.

Target safety

The Cloudflare Worker rejects local, private, reserved and cloud-metadata targets and checks public DNS resolution immediately before creating a remote measurement. Globalping applies its own destination protections as a second boundary. DNS can change after validation, so these controls reduce risk but cannot pin every hostname to a single address.

  • Globalping: remote measurements and probe metadata.
  • IPinfo Lite: public country, continent and ASN data.
  • Cloudflare: visitor IP, edge location, HTTP and TLS metadata.
